What do you know, we're up to four!
Interestingly enough, we have spent a relatively massive 1,213 days on the road. This year has had much more than just a fair share of drama, to put it nicely. Whether it's rushing to find a new soul, seat of our pants planning in the northeast with a rush out to the midwest, or how where we were going to be right now went completely awry, we are thankful to all of those who have helped us out through these trying times, and here's hoping each and every one of you are doing well for this Thanksgiving.
We hope to continue to Follow our Internal Compass and be able to send a similar message at this time next year.
Really? Three already?!
That's what happens when 842 days pass since starting on the road full time, it seems. We've had ups, downs, bumps, bruises, given blood, sweat, and tears (literally in some cases), but it's well worth it. Those we meet along the way make it all worthwhile, and it is them for which we are thankful this year. Whether it's Kyle in Arkansas, Beth in Texas and other places, Brandi once of Oklahoma, Liz and Belva in South Dakota, and countless others that we're unable to mention for one reason or another, we are eternally grateful that you have come into our lives, we hope you are doing well, and we wish you all the best this Thanksgiving.
Continue to Follow Your Internal Compass as we look forward to another year.
Day number 478 of Freedom Rolling's permanent adventure is upon us. Although the trip count has significantly slowed, and there isn't a parodic tome to bestow, there still is much for which to be thankful.
First, we are thankful for all those who have contributed to Freedom Rolling. Whether it's been T-shirts, care packages, gift cards, changing oil on the truck, fixing something in the rig... Even to those who are simply reading along or watching us on various social media forums, we are eternally grateful. Second, we are thankful for health and well being while on the road, even though we've had a few rough shots along the way. Third, we are thankful for all those, past and present, who have given us the opportunity to workamp at their locations and the hospitality they have provided. Fourth, a big thank you to everyone we've met along the way, whether or not they continue to follow us. Finally, we are thankful for not only each other, but the one who has kept us somewhat sane on this whole adventure, and that's Miles the Chug Terrier. If it weren't for him, one of us may be in Bull Shoals Lake at this point.
Thank you to all who have helped us to Follow our Internal Compass, as we hope each and every one of you are able to follow yours.
Fivescore and fourteen days ago, a quarter of an aspiring four-father, his wife, and their pooch set off on a fantastic voyage to seek pilgrimage in a not-so-new world.
Facing oppression from a ruthless private and public oligarchy, along with a burgeoning loss of cultural heritage, despite several cries to let their people go, these pilgrims knew the time for an exodus approached. Supplied with a Jayco as their vessel and a Ford as their power, they whisked about to test the mettles of their resolve. Arming themselves with the knowledge of their abilities, and lack thereof, the first three, then four, pilgrims made final preparations to abandon what they held dear to follow their internal compass.
Timings and events, both internal and external, made for an arduous voyage. One of the pilgrims passed on at the start, with her spirit remaining immortalized by the surviving three. The grief struck upon these survivors necessitated a hastily crammed vessel. Having to choose the most important of belongings to carry, along with facing the tribulations that came with depleted company to the brink of mutiny, the pilgrims established their new allegiances and made settlement to prepare for the winter.
Long-term settlement seemed a paradise for these pilgrims, with ocean breezes and beautiful sunrises. This was all short-lived, as they faced another merciless private oligarchy from the established locals, this time with the reputation of being even more savage than the previous. A brisk exodus was once again necessary, seeking the land they promised themselves. Eventually, it was near a rock where the pilgrims finally settled. It is upon this week they are thankful for the blessings bestowed upon them, for the ability to live freely.
And so, on this day, those pilgrims wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, as each and every one of us follow our internal compass.
